Newton IT’s Remote Laptop and Desktop Backup service provides businesses with a secure automatic backup system via the internet. Data is stored in Newton IT’s state-of-the-art datacentre and files can be recovered online within minutes.

Automatic back up
Newton IT’s Remote Backup is an agent-based service designed for PC and Laptops running Microsoft Windows environments. An agent is loaded onto each PC and server and, once configured, will scan specified files and folders and backup all documentation automatically.

Security
The data is compressed and encrypted into 128bit AES format, ensuring the data is secure during transmission and enabling prompt backup via any internet connection. Backup time is dependent on connection speed.

Reliability
Data is stored off-site in Newton IT’s datacentre in London’s Docklands. Our facilities include multiple redundancies built into the power, connectivity and hardware infrastructure and 24/7 monitoring to ensure the highest availability at all times. 

Online Management
Each user can be provided with a self-management portal, where they can select which files to back up and schedule the time of day for each backup to be run. Users also have the ability to re-schedule or cancel the backup if they require the PC for another task.

Data is administered by the DB servers in active/active pairs. The agent conducts daily backups to this infrastructure. A user can go online through their agent and search and restore files from the server farm. Agents are registered to the PC MAC address so files cannot be restored to any other machine.
